Vintage gifts

I posted my little vintage tree the other day. My friends and I have great memories of our childhoods and we were talking the other day about some of the old candies and such. When I was a kid, we had a little neighborhood store that was on the way home from school and we would visit and buy penny candy like the juice wax milk bottles and pixie stiks.

So, I decided that this year for our neighbor gifts I would do a vintage theme. (Our neighbors are about our ages.) I started gathering old candies that we remembered along with some Teaberry gum. I found some black and white dvds of episodes of Andy Griffith, Lucy, and Jack Benny at Cracker Barrel. I bought some cigar type boxes at the dollar store. We had a lot of our treasures in those when we were kids. I assembled all the stuff in the boxes and added a vintage ornament. For gift tags, I used a couple of old pictures of us as kids. (Just what everybody wants, right?)

At any rate, it was fun doing and I hope our friends don't think I'm too crazy.

Now that is a fantastic idea, Nan. I just know they will love them. Gifts that take a little time to put together, have a little personality to them, and being fun to boot always go over very well. You are a good friend and neighbor!

Nan- It is SO nice to meet you! Do you live in Avon? I'm in Fishers. You think the world is so big until you get on the internet and start stumbling on people that are practically neighbors. So funny.

I adore the gifts you put together. What a great idea. Who wouldn't love a little walk down memory lane?

Good Morning Nan,
Thanks for coming by and checking on my. I just finished posting for today. I've just had the blues the last couple of days. I love the gift idea you fixed up. I think that is so neat. I'm sure your neighbors will love it. I know I would. LOL. I have only had 4 hours sleep because me and hubby stayed up until 2:30a.m. watching movies. I am starting to get sleepy again. I may have to get me a nap before the girls get home this afternoon. Well, take care my friend and have a great Saturday. May God Bless You and Yours.

Hugs,
Karen H.

Nan-
I guessed where you live because of the name of your other blog that showed up in your profile when I clicked on it.

Love the Christmas Vacation song playing on your blog. I believe I may have to watch that tonight thanks to you!

Nan,that is a fantastic idea for neighbour gifts!! If they are the same age as you, they will remember all these treats so fondly...and a little nostalgia at the holidays will bring a LOT of smiles!!

Nan,
Great idea. I loved the milk bottles in their little carriers. So much un to chew on the wax after the "juice" was gone.

This is the best idea! What a delightful box of treats to get! I use to chew teaberry gum. Infact I had a gum wrapper chain that I made with all of those old wrappers. xo Becky
