Rub a dub dub.....out with the tub!

Several posts ago, I mentioned that we were thinking of remodeling our bathroom. Well, we are on our way! The jacuzzi tub is going away and we are doing a larger shower. Everything is moving around. We can't replace everything. I am thinking that I'll paint the cabinets and change the hardware. We'll add new counters, tile, lighting and shower. My husband and friends will do all the work.

We don't live in a big house. Hopefully, the new layout will function better for us.

Here are some BEFORE pics. Bye bye big tub. We don't use it very often and it takes up so much space. Bye bye Hollywood lights! Bye bye carpet in the bathroom! What were they thinking? (No, we didn't build this house.)

We thought this tub was a lighter weight material. Big surprise...............It is some kind of cultured marble and weighs 400 lbs! It took 4 guys to get it out today!

Pardon the mess!
Have any of you remodeled a bath recently? Any great ideas you'd like to share? Any tips on painting the cabinets? The cabinets will be in a single run on the wall where the tub is now. I don't know what kind of mirrors to do. Any suggestions welcome.

Oh, what a wonderful tub. I wish it was in my house. Too bad you didn't like it. What I want is a great big tub with a shower with it.

Liked Bob's Boots.

Nan,
We haven't remodeled our bath, but we have our kitchen, and a word of advice is to have the cabinets either sprayed or painted with a brush...we hired a painter who rolled on the paint and when I got home from work and saw all of the tiny lumps from the roller I freaked out, needless to say I had him come back, sand them all down and paint them with a brush....aaaaahhhh so MUCH BETTER! Can't wait to see your finished project.
Hugs,

Good Morning Nan,
Well would you please mail me that tub you don't want? LOL. I sure wish I had it. I love my showers, but I would love to have a jacuzzi to relax in sometimes. I have never remodeled a bath before, so I don't have any pointers for you. I can't wait to see what you do with your remodeled bathroom tho. I know it will be beautiful. Guess what? We FINALLY got our BIG SNOW yesterday and last night. It started Snowing around 11:30a.m. and they let School out at 12:15p.m. My DH made it home from Memphis around 3:30p.m. Him and the girls tried to make a Snowman, but the Snow was too wet. If we don't move today, I'm sure they will be out trying to make another one. I'll just have to wait and see what my DH wants to do when he wakes up. I'm guessing we have around 5 or 6 inches of Snow. I went to bed around 7:00p.m. last night and it was still Snowing then. I don't know what time it finally quit. If we don't move today, I'm going to take some pictures of the Snow with my new camera. I had to charge the batteries up on it yesterday so I wasn't able to take any pictures of the Snow yesterday. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

What fun! We have a very, very small bathroom that we *slightly* remodeled a few years ago. We took out a big sink/cabinet and replaced it with a pedestal sink and small storage cabinet that made better use of the space. Also, instead of the big mirror that looked glued to the wall, I bought a large framed mirror from Home Depot and one of those snazzy shaving mirrors that has the bendable arms. Love it! Good luck!
